Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi
Founder - Kampala based Nnyanzi Art Studio
Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi, a father of two is a visual arts practitioner and consultant of international repute. He founded and runs the Kampala based Nnyanzi Art Studio, a studio/gallery , which collects, produces , documents and promotes contemporary and antique African art as well as Uganda’s rich cultural heritage.
A holder of an MA Design (Professional Practice ) from Middlesex University, UK and a Diploma in Industrial Art and Design from CTC Kenya YMCA, Kenya, has exhibited, given lectures and conducted workshops in galleries and universities in some parts of Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. Among them ; Makerere University, University of Transkei SA, Middlesex University UK, Maris College USA, Dutchess Community College USA, Vassar CollegeUSA , Edgewood College USA, Pasadena City CollegeUSA, Kansas University US, Vanderbilt University USA. Nnyanzi at one time served as minister in the Buganda Kingdom, director of Uganda Tourist Board, Chairman of Uganda Artists’ Association, Chairman of Afri-Talent Theatre Company, Past President of Rotary Club of Kampala West, Chairman of Central Branch of Uganda Red Cross Society .Currently he is Vice Chairperson of National Arts and Cultural Crafts Association of Uganda and a member of the culture committee of the Uganda National Commission of UNESCO.
Nnyanzi is also a poet, patron and promoter of the performing arts who in the early 90s spearheaded the renaissance of contemporary Ugandan music by organizing high caliber concerts that reinvigorated careers of legendary musicians of the sixties that included 40 years of Elly Wamala show, Music back to 60s among others.
