Senior Immigration Officer/Training Coordinator for Uganda’s Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control
Agnes Igoye shares her journey through a conflict ravaged Northern region of Uganda to her determination to helping other women and children to get on their feet to reconstruction.
Working with women’s groups, Agnes initiated the Huts For Peace program to rebuild war-torn communities in Northern Uganda. She is a Hubert Humphrey Fellow and a member of the Clinton Global Initiative with a commitment of action with President Clinton to counter human trafficking.
On November 17th, 2012, Agnes received the 2012 Inspirational Woman of Uganda Award for Anti Human Trafficking Work & Youth Empowerment, presented to her by the U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Scott DeLisi. She now serves as the national coordinator for the Uganda-U.S. Exchange Alumni Association, which trains over 250 women and youths on entrepreneurship skills.
Agnes was selected to pay tribute to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she received the 2013 prestigious Liberty Medal on September 10, 2013 in Philadelphia, for her lifelong career in Public service and dedicated advocacy efforts on behalf of women and girls globally. b
